Norsemen News · Winter Varsity Coaches Hired – Girls Ice Hockey, Wrestling, Boys Swim

It is with great pleasure that we introduce the following coaches to our Norsemen Varsity Coaching Staff:

Varsity Boys Swim – Coach Ben Winn was a very accomplished collegiate swimmer at Wayne State University.  Some honors he received were 2016 Athlete of the Year, Five time All-American Swimmer, Scholar Athlete, Captain of the 2014-2016 teams to name a few.  Some of his local teams include Lochmoor Club and Pointe Aquatics.  He began his love of swim at the young age of 3 while swimming for the Romeo Dolphins Swim Club.  Welcome Ben to the boys North swim team. Coach Winn is also a Secondary Social Studies Teacher and looks forward to working with swim team both in and out of the pool.

Varsity Girls Ice Hockey – Coach Casey Quick has been named the new girls ice hockey coach.  He has been a lifelong Grosse Pointe resident.  Having played high school hockey for Grosse Pointe North in the mid ‘80’s Quick is excited to bring his experience to the girls ice hockey program.  He has a USA Hockey Certification and is a certified to referee  and has officiated all levels of girls hockey.  We are happy he chose to return to North and continue our tradition of girls ice hockey.  He is excited to continue his hockey career here at North.

Varsity Wrestling – Coach Derek Davison will be the new Norsemen wrestling coach.  We are very excited to have him join our coaching staff here at Grosse Pointe North.  Coach Davison has been involved with wrestling his entire life.  He began competing in the third grade and has competed at one of the highest levels.  Coach Davison was a member of the Eastern Michigan wrestling team where he was a 3 time scholar athlete.  He has run camps and coached for the past 5 years and he is excited to bring his knowledge to North.
